I love watching birds when I get a chance. My husband and I get to in the mornings while walking our dogs and I get to see some at work. Since we are in bird migration there has been some fun birds to see around my local park and school. At my park we see a variety of doves, peach face lovebirds, the vermilion flycatcher, killdeer, Anna’s hummingbird (but we can have up to 15 species), European starlings, Gila woodpecker, saw a Western kingbird, Say’s Phoebe, Coopers hawk, and American kestrel. This is just at a small little park near my house. If we take a run up to a wash we will see more hawks and verdin.
At school I am lucky to have several areas with very large trees. So I have been getting to watch all sorts of birds lately. We have had the brown head cowbird, Anna’s hummingbird, Say’s Phoebe (a pair at my office door), verdin, yellow headed blackbird, peach face love birds, Gila woodpeckers and lark sparrow. I do see more throughout the year.
Birding is so interesting! There are so many types of birds and so fun to watch all the different behaviors. So next time you step outside on your porch or taking a walking stop and take a good look at the birds. Such a fun and relaxing time.
